The Sande Cedar Plank Boat

The Sandes' first "production run" of boats, starting in about 1948, focused on an open, cedar planked boat equipped with a Wisconsin inboard or built for an outboard.  Just like the Ace, several of these have been saved and protected.  They are very special just like their younger Ace siblings.

Here are some pictures of these great boats.  If anyone knows of others, please contact Ed.

Chuck Muller's Sande powered by an old Johnson
at the Port Townsend Wooden Boat Festival.

Jack Leslie mounted a 1-cylinder Kohler inboard in his 1948 Sande.
He then hooked up a F/N/R transmission that sat in his grandfather's barn for years.

Dave M.'s Sande.  In superb condition and named "Ace," it is not the Sande Ace runabout.

Wayne Matthews' 1948 Sande is shown at Lake Kokanee with a 1954 10-HP Johnson.

Here it is with a 1929 3-HP Johnson.

Here's Cristian C.'s Sande built in 1957.
