The Hamlin Ace in 1963
Hull Number: Unknown (but it was delivered in July, 1961)

Here are pictures of Ned with his 1961 Sande Ace at the Hamlin place on Hood Canal a couple years after its delivery.

Ned weighed about 130 lbs in this photo, enabling the boat to do around 28 mph with its 30 HP Evinrude.

This picture brought to Ned's attention that the front seat back
on original boats is a little different from that on his restored boat.

Here's Ned and brother-in-law John ready to go for a ride.  The 30 HP Evinrude was passed down from the 14' Hollywood (see below), since Ned's dad wasn't ready to buy a Merc at the time.  The Ace was definitely not designed for Evinrude's or Johnson's, since the transom knee brace did not allow the motor to be fully tilted.  Ned had to cut away some of the brace in order to tilt the motor.

An earlier photo shows the new 14' Hollywood being fitted with a 25 HP Big Twin Evinrude
by Ned's dad in about 1954.  That's Ned in the background hauling the dinghy up for the incoming tide.
